NetMission@IGF2015 Joao Pessoa

NetMission Ambassadors has been participating in the UN-convened Internet Governance Forum since 2009. Our mission is to encourage Youth to directly participate in the Internet Governance discourse and contribute to the discussion. To this end, we initiated and organized YouthIGF for university students in the Asia Pacific region since 2010 and started the NetY Program in 2012 to engage an even younger generation to participate in the UNIGF.
The 10th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in 2015 in Brazil was the very first time that a Youth Engagement program was introduced and integrated into the conference. Over 50 Latin American Youth representatives joined the Youth@IGF Program and attended the event. NetMission was delighted to help with the training process for this meaningful and successful initiative. During conference as panelists, moderators and facilitators, NetMission helped organize and coordinate workshops on the topic related to young participation in Internet Governance. NetMission also helped develop innovative solutions for capacity building such as building a survival kit – IGF ABCs for Newbies, and facilitate Mentor Youth Meetup to provide youth friendly environment to include the next generation in the discussion.
